Boy Scout Camping

Luke the Bear Scout
Grant the Tiger being silly.

Grant the sharpshooter, the boys love the bee bee guns more than anything else

Luke on the firing line
Grant: "Daddy, is the what it's like being in the Army?"
Even at the end of October it was hot in southeast Texas, but lots of fun.

Grant is 7!

Grant got an acoustic guitar for his birthday, I guess he was happy!
Sammy rockin' on an electric guitar Grant got.

Grant's team won their soccer game on his B.D., cool.
They sang happy birthday and we brought cookies.
We took Grant to Freebird Burrito for dinner, his favorite.
The burrito
Some signing, not sure what it means. That can't be a
Texas Longhorn "Hook 'em" sign, not in College Station?!
I don't get it
Some good old fashioned wrastlin'

Birthday boy with daddy. I (dad) told Grant that he had jumped a year and he was now 9.
Luke did not think that that was funny.
Grant's soccer buddy, he is also in his class for the second year.

Luke & Grant The Good Boys- Sammy too.

Last week Grant was awarded the "Fabulous Falcon" of the week for his class in just the 2d week of class. Last year he was the first. Luke was the "Runner of the week" in his class 2 weeks in a row for running the most laps in gym class. In this picture Luke and Grant are in their in their new soccer uniforms. Coincidentally they got the exact same uniform - they play in different age groups.

Daddy's Excellent Weekend

Having been a good boy for a period of time I was granted a "kitchen pass" this Saturday to golf with my best golfing bud ever, Ralph. Ralph drove 2 hours from Austin and I drove 20 minutes from College Station and we met at Pecan Lakes Golf Course in Navasota. This is only the second time this year that I have golfed! When I started golfing back in the day in 1993 when I was single I would golf once or twice every week and practice at the range too. Anyway, it was a very nice morning to golf, it was just me and Ralph in our group and we discussed national politics for the first 9 holes. Yes Sarah Palin was an excellent VP selection, yes the other party was filled to very bad people bent on destroying America... By the time we finished the first 9 holes I realized that I had shot a very good score, a 41. In all my millions of rounds of golf I had never shot a score in the 70s, now all of a sudden it looked like I might be able to do it practically on accident! Well it didn't quite work out, I'll blame the slow group in front of us who refused to let us play through. It was 4 comically fat rednecks who were riding in golf carts. Ralph told me that they were probably wondering why those 2 skinny fools behinds them were walking when the golf carts are free. Oh the irony. I ended up shooting an 82 which tied my all time best score but the 3 birdies in one round is a record for sure. This was followed by lunch at Rudy's BBQ in College Station in which large amounts of smoked meat were consumed making it the perfect golf day.
The below picture is from another golf outing with Ralph in Oregon in which I hit a tee shot so fat that the gigantic clump of sod that I took as a divit still contained the tee in tact. A golfing first I suspect.

Karsten in Tie Dye

Karsten is wearing this tie dyed t-shirt that Grammy Pat & Grampa Joe bought Luke way back when he was a baby. It was purchased (of course) in Oregon. It was also worn by Grant and Sammy when it fit each of them. I love the shirt but Sara prefers not to let the children wear it out of the house. It reminds me of my crazy, hazy college days at the University of Oregon in the late '70s!

Sammy's 3rd Birthday Party

Sammy got lots of Thomas the Tank Engine trains and tracks. He just loves Thomas.
