San Antonio Visit
The boys had another enjoyable visit to San Antonio this past weekend. We arrived late Friday night. This time we stayed at an old Air Force base that still has lodging available, which was nice (and cheap!). Saturday we went to Sea World. We spent most of the day in the wave pool. Sammy did circles in the shallow area and Luke and Grant had a blast playing in the waves. We also did some laps around the "river" with innertubes. It started to rain, so we spent the end of the day at the dolphin pool. Sam was very excited and kept saying "whale". We ended up having a very nice dinner at a family friendly restaurant in the Quarry. We made it back to the hotel just in time for Joe to watch the Oregon State Beavers win the first game of the college world series. On Sunday we packed it all back up (we travel light with 4 kids!!!) and spent the morning at David and Rachelle's house. We are amazed at how much their neighborhood has changed (how many houses were bulldozed to make room for much LARGER houses). They renovated their house while we were in Oregon and we were excited to see it. They did an excellent job (I'm sure it was an enjoyable experience!!!). We liked it so much we are ready to move in! Their oldest child built his own treehouse (even asking the construction workers in the neighborhood for any extra wood---in Spanish!). The boys had fun playing with their daughter and assured me that she doesn't like "girly things like pink stuff and Barbies". The highlight was a Texas style breakfast buffet complete with lots of fruit and breakfast tacos!

Saturday At Ralph's House on Lake Travis in Austin
On Saturday we went to Ralph and Kim's house in Lago Vista and spent the day at the lake on his boat. Ralph lives close enough to the lake that you can walk to the water...nice! The view from his back deck overlooks Lake Travis and you can see Matthew McConahey's gigantic house across the lake. Ralph bought life vests for the boys so they could go on the boat and float around in the water, then later he bought everyone ice cream when the ice cream truck came around. The boys had a blast, and Luke got to drive the boat by himself. Luke was a natural on the boat, he sat on the front section with his feet propped up, the wind blowing in his hair telling ralph to drive faster. Grant sat with me behind the windshield clinging to my legs with both hands telling Ralph to slow down. Hilarious. Later Ralph's son Robbie came by and treated us to a gourmet pizza he made at the house. It was much fun, and we got home very late at night. Next weekend I think that we are going to Sea World for Luke's 7th birthday. Probably spend most of our time in the water park sections...and of course a visit to the Budweiser tent for free samples!
