Karsten in Tie Dye

Karsten is wearing this tie dyed t-shirt that Grammy Pat & Grampa Joe bought Luke way back when he was a baby. It was purchased (of course) in Oregon. It was also worn by Grant and Sammy when it fit each of them. I love the shirt but Sara prefers not to let the children wear it out of the house. It reminds me of my crazy, hazy college days at the University of Oregon in the late '70s!

Sammy's 3rd Birthday Party

Sammy got lots of Thomas the Tank Engine trains and tracks. He just loves Thomas.

Grammy Pat's Visit

Grammy Pat visited us for about a week and on the last night she took us out for dinner with money from Grandpa Joe. Thanks Grammy Pat, We Miss You!

Sara's Sassy New 'Do

OK, she was sassy before the haircut :-)
She donated the hair to an agency that makes wigs for children with cancer.

More Top 10s

Top 10 4 August:

10. Mission Accomplished: Sara and I decided that one goal for this summer was to teach Luke and Grant how to swim. After 2 or 3 sets of swim lessons it was finally up to us to get the boys to the pool put all these classes to use. Both boys are now officially swimmers.
9. The push to finish the swim lessons comes at a good time, a couple weeks of record heat, temps over 100 degrees every day. We use sunscreen but the big boys and me are very brown. We usually go in the afternoon when Karsten is sleeping so Sara can sew.
8. Preparations are underway for mom’s visit later this week. It’s her annual inspection of the grandkids.
7. Both Luke and Grant are now sporting short hair buzz cuts which many of their friends have and works well for swimming and hot days. Yes, I do it myself.
6. Karsten is still waiting for his first haircut. He has the darkest hair of any of our kids. He has what can only be described as a mullet. You know the look, business in the front, party in the back.
5. Sammy continues to earn his keep around the house, this week by telling mommy, “You’re a princess” and telling me, “Daddy, you’re my best friend”.
4. Karsten must have some feline blood as he is always climbing on things, we catch him on the dining room table, standing on beds, everywhere.
3. Sammy turns 3 this month.
2. I like to Tivo animal shows and we watch one or two every night before the boys go to bed. Luke especially loves the shows and so do I. Luke wants to study animals when he grows up.
1. Wednesday night is story night when I tell a story to Luke and Grant before they go to bed. The boys absolutely love to hear stories. I used to tell one every night in Oregon and I had started to slack off so compromised with one night a week. Recently I started a continuing story that ends with a “to be continued” and all week they ask me what is going to happen, fun.
