Sammy's new kicks.....

I think Joe was more excited than anybody to buy the boys each a pair of converse all-stars. Samuel has been enjoying his (since we lost his other shoes at Seaworld!). Here he is excited to play outside.

Luke and Karsten

His belly button is finally gone!!!

It took long enough! I remember Luke's falling off right at 2 weeks, unlike Karsten who lost his at 3 1/2 weeks. Poor guy had to take a bath in the big tub after I realized we were missing a crucial part to the baby bathtub. Grant helped the whole time and kept asking me when he would be able to wear the robe Col Dave and Shari Mullins gave to Karsten. I had to explain the robe is for after the bath. Grant said, "I thought it was so he wouldn't get cold in the water". I had to make sure to do it when Samuel was napping, otherwise I'm sure there would have been a fight over the bathtub. Some of the pics in the slideshow below are cutoff, but if you hit the fullscreen button you will see the whole photo. I haven't figured out all the hightech stuff yet!

Out of batteries for the camera!

We are out of batteries right now (perfect timing!) I will send Joe out for more soon. Grant had his kindergarten physical today. He loves our Dr. She actually lives in our neighborhood so we see her often when we are out on walks. He had to get 4 shots today! Of course, being Grant, there were no tears. We went to McDonalds afterwards so he could have a happy meal. He enjoyed that (along with Samuel's cheeseburger). We found out today that he is in the 55th percentile for weight and off the charts for his height at this age. The Dr. also heard a heart murmur so she put in a referral to a pediatric cardiologist just to have it checked out and noted in his chart. We are sure it is nothing, and are not suprised since Joe and I both have one.

Weekend Trip to San Antonio

On Friday afternoon as I was contemplating all the chores we had to do over the weekend I decided that all work and no play has its limits and we had reached it so I called Sara and asked her if she wanted to go to San Antonio for the weekend. Before I could explain my thoughts I could hear Sara leading the boys in a chant "We're going to Sea World", and "Shamu here we come!" So Sara went online and found us a room (18th floor in the Hilton) on the River Walk for less than half the normal rate and she bought us season passes for 4 at Sea World for a discounted rate --it turns out that a season pass is only a couple of dollars more than a daily admission when you get them online. We had a ton of fun going back to Sea World, the site of Sara and my first big date. My how things have changed in 7 ...almost 8 years! The dolphin and whale shows were great as usual although I must say that the new Shamu show was a bit preachy and earth-lovin'. I say give me whales jumping thru flaming hoops and save the sermons for Sunday church but the kids were beside themselves with joy. Mommy and daddy were thrilled just to be outside of our house, neighborhood & College Station. We both forgot just how great San Antonio is (was) and how lucky we were to live there. The Spurs played and won a big NBA playoff in SA while we were there, just a few miles from our hotel (honking in the streets until 2:30 am!). Of course the River Walk right there, the Quarry Golf Course, Ft Sam Houston with great and free medical care and PX & commissary -- we drove by our gigantic Texas size house on post...boy could we use that place now! And of course Mexican food at Rosarios, the best Mexican food in the world. On the way out we stopped at the San Marcos outlet mall, the biggest in the world, yes it's bigger than when you were here. At Sea World the boys got to hand feed fish to dolphins and pet their noses, Luke and Grant went on a little kid Shamu roller-coaster, we saw the shark tank, daddy stoppped by the Budweiser brew tent for free samples, yummy! Probably the highlight for me and the boys was floating (with life vests for the 3 big boys) around the pool shaped in a loop like a river the propels you around in a circle. They have intertubes available you can hang onto or just swim around. The weather was perfect, overcast and maybe 78 with a slight breeze. Way too much fun! So today it's Monday, back to work. Luke's last day of school is this Thursday, then Sara will have all 4 boys at home all day. I'll be the lucky one going to work in the morning!!! Joe.
